When I was young I used to keep a database of my Championship Manager results, my parents would look at me and ask what I was doing playing games all the time and they would never be of use. Thankfully 15 years of playing a spreadsheet football management game has given me all the skills needed to be an analyst (and also take Coventry City to Champions League Glory).

Today I love being able to look at data and make sense of it, I may not be scouting for a new left back but I can try to find out why conversion is not as high as it should be.

Sometimes you need an Analyst to crunch those figures to make sense of them, other times you need a marketeer to put them in a way that is understandable and actionable. It is very difficult to find a person who can do both. My experience in big multi-nationals and small enterprises has given me the opportunity to be that person.

Key Successes:

Initiated a Conversion Rate Optimisation project using Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics to identify issues with the customer journey and propose changes to be made to improve performance.

Led implementation of Adobe Analytics, scoping requirements for data collection, working with external agency to add the code to the customer facing site and online application process.

Developed and implemented MI databases and Reporting for multiple employers, using Access and Excel models to provide data and analysis where previously there was none.

Developed a Social Media strategy for Legal & General

Saved £1.1m by analysing customer renewal process and identifying that conversion would not be affected by removal of renewal incentive.

Developed an Access database with MOSAIC data (30 million records) and sales to analyse customer and sales behaviour.
